A bukaresti Libertatea napilapban Sorin Golea arról számol be, hogy 2007-ben Brassó és Kovászna megyék határán az országút mentén megjelent egy „Székelyföld címzésű” pannó, amelyen többek között egy furcsa írásjelekkel írt szöveg is látható volt (a táblát azóta eltávolították – szerk.). A magyarok szerint ezek a jelek az ősi székely írás elemei, írja a lap. De nézzük, mi is ez az ábécé? A magyarok azt állítják, hogy ezt az írást a székelyek találták ki a középkorban, és székely rovásírásnak nevezték el – írja a Libertatea.

Mostanában jelent meg a piacon Vasile Maierean és Dan Dulciu A román írástudomány egy történelme* című könyve. Előbbi a Kodifikált Szövegek Országos Központjának volt a vezetője, utóbbi pedig filológus, kriptológus. A könyv külön fejezetet szentel a székely rovásírásnak. A szerzők kijelentik, hogy ezt az írást nem a székelyek találták ki, mert azt a mai Románia területén élt dákok és későbbi leszármazottaik a románok már jóval korábban használták. Amikor a székelyek bejöttek Erdélybe, átvették a románoktól.

A könyv szerint a székelyek a 7000 éves alsótatárlaki leletből vették át a jeleket.

Az említett könyv szerint a székely rovásírásban használt 42 jelből 12 megegyezik a Fehér megyei Alsótatárlakán (Tărtăria) talált agyagtáblákon láthatókkal. Csakhogy ezek az agyagtáblák 7000 évesek, a székely rovásírás pedig csak 800 éves. A magyarul beszélő székelyek 1100 és 1200 között érkeztek a Kárpát-kanyarba – írja a Libertatea a könyvre hivatkozva –, tehát semmilyen kapcsolatuk sem lehetett a tatárlaki lelettel.

A bukaresti lap végezetül Kézai Simon Gesta Hunnorum et Hungarorum (A hunok és magyarok viselt dolgai) című művét említi, amely 1283 körül keletkezett és amely arról ír, hogy „ezek a székelyek a hegyekben együtt éltek a blacki-knek nevezett románokkal". Ezzel a keveredéssel magyarázzák az írásjelek átvételét.
