A Rákóczi Szövetség helyi alapszervezetének kezdeményezésére augusztus 27-én Udvardon a falu bejáratánál Érsekújvár felől a Kálvária domb alatt a hagyományos falunapok keretében került sor Udvard község rovásfeliratos helységnévtáblájának ünnepélyes felavatására.

A kezdeményezés és a megvalósulás közti alig egy év telt el. Az ötlet szellemi atyja Z.Urbán Aladár a Palóc Társaság elnöke volt. Az ötlet nagyon is helyénvaló volt, hiszen Udvardon régi hagyománya van a rovásírás tanulásának, gyakorlásának és tanításának is. Ez év áprilisában Udvard adott otthont a VI. Felvidéki Országos Rovásírásversenynek, a helyi Majthényi Adolf Magyar Tanítási Nyelvű Alapiskola diákjai és a cserkészcsapat tagjai évek óta sikeresen szerepelnek ilyen jellegű megmérettetéseken.

Szakács Gábor, a Kárpát-medencei rovásírásversenyek szervezőjének köszönhetően számtalan olyan „rovástábla” található, amin az adott helység nevét rovásírással is feltüntették. Így nem csoda, hogy a hirtelen felvetődött ötletet azonnali tett követte: a Rákóczi Szövetség helyi alapszervezete megpályázta és sikeresen megszerezte a táblaállítás anyagi feltételeit a Rákóczi Szövetség jóvoltából. A rovásfeliratos tábla elkészítését két amatőr tardoskeddi fafaragó Szabó Ferdinánd és Bencze Róbert vállalta el. Munkájuk eredménye azonban profi színvonalról tanúskodik.

Az avatás nemzeti imánk, a Himnusz eléneklésével vette kezdetét, majd Molnár Béla az egybegyűltek üdvözlése után röviden ismertette a táblaállítás előzményeit, ezután Kálazi József polgármester köszöntője következett. Szakács Gábor ismertette az eddigi rovásfeliratos táblák avatásának jelentőségét. Őt Salgó Gabriella követte Friedrich Klára egy az alkalomhoz illő versének előadásával. Ezt követően Z. Urbán Aladár, a Palóc Társaság elnöke és Kálazi József polgármester leplezte le a falutáblát a nagyszámú közönség lelkes tapsa közepette. Ennek tiszteletére és emlékére Szakács Gábor átnyújtotta a székely nemzeti zászlót a Rákóczi Szövetség és a CSEMADOK elnökeinek megőrzésre. Az avatás természetesen a Székely Himnusz eléneklésével zárult.
